Happy St. Patrick's Day! Nail Tutorial

In case you have the afternoon off and wanted to paint your nails for St. Patrick's Day (today), here is a super fun and bright, sparkly idea!

I started by cleaning off my nails.  I painted kind of late last night, so I didn't worry about filing or managing my cuticles this time around.

Next, I put down my base coat.  I used Butter London's Nail Foundation Base Coat.

Next I applied a Zoya nail polish that I received in a previos Ipsy bag.  I decided to do an accent nail, so I left my ring finger alone for this round of polish.

For my accent nail, I used elf.  Both this green and gold color are serving as a base color for all of the glitter that is about to happen.  I've found that any time I try to just use glitter, the imperfections are easy to spot. By applying a similar color for a base coat, it disguises any issues you may have with your glitter application.

Bring on the glitter!!!  I received "Nail Rock" in a Birch Box, and have only ever managed to use it for St. Patrick's Day.  Basically, you apply a coat (or two) of the clear Nail Rock Nail Polish, and then you dip your wet nail in to straight GLITTER!  I'm talking a full on container of nothing but pure glittery awesomeness.  After I dipped each nail, I would make sure to clean up my edges, and then shake off any excess/loose glitter.  I patted down my nails to secure each piece of glitter and make sure there weren't any that were sticking straight up.  This is an essential step when dealing with loose glitter, because if it dries sitting up on your nail, rather than laying down, you're going to catch your nail polish on everything you wear/touch during the day.  (So annoying!!)

Then I applied the gold glitter I wanted to use for my accent nail.  I used a super glittery gold nail polish from Ulta.  This changed the pattern up a bit from loose glitter, and it shines just as well.

Overall, I am very happy with the turn out!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!
[Edit: I'll update with the specific names of the colors I used later today.  Basically, you're just looking for a green and gold toned base coat, and then your choice of green loose glitter or green glitter nail polish, and gold glitter nail polish.]
